Born from Flame, Painted by Nature.

Unlike our industrially molded pieces, The Moss Stone Teapot is shaped completely by hand and surrendered to the unpredictable elements of a traditional wood-fired kiln. It is a vessel designed to capture the quiet poetry of Wabi-Sabi—the beauty found in imperfection, impermanence, and the slow, steady march of time.

The Living Aesthetic of Moss

The surface of this teapot does not feature a synthetic glaze. Instead, its unique coloration is a gift from the kiln itself. During the intense, multi-day wood firing process, flying wood ash settles on the clay, melting under extreme heat to create a natural, organic glaze. The resulting earthy brown tones, speckles, and subtle green undertones evoke the image of an ancient stone nestled deep within a quiet forest, slowly being reclaimed by velvety, growing moss. It feels alive, grounded, and deeply connected to the natural world.

A Singular Ritual, Two Expressions

Because each teapot is completely handmade, no two pieces will ever be identical in their ash markings or exact texture. To complement your personal pouring style, this design is offered in two distinct variations:

  • Version One (Classic Loop Handle): This version features a traditional, gracefully arched side loop handle. It offers a familiar, balanced grip that allows for a steady, intuitive stream during your Gongfu sessions.

  • Version Two (Japanese Side Handle / Kyusu Style): For those who prefer a different ergonomic flow, this version features a straight, round Japanese-style side handle extending perpendicular to the spout. It allows for a refined, wrist-pivoting pour that changes the entire energetic dynamic of your tea ritual.

The Soul of Your Brew

Crafted from a coarse, iron-rich stoneware with fine, unglazed pores, this teapot is an exceptional companion for your tea leaves. The raw interior works to soften the water and round out the sharp edges of heavily oxidized or fermented teas. It is particularly magnificent when paired with dark roasted Oolongs, comforting Shou Pu-erhs, or aged white teas, slowly absorbing the tea oils over a lifetime of use to develop its own rich, inner patina.
