The Pinnacle of Purity and Timeless Elegance.

Hailing from the legendary terroirs of Panxi in China's Fujian province, Silver Needle (Baihao Yinzhen) stands as one of the most prestigious and revered white teas in the world. This exceptional harvest is a testament to ultimate minimalism and delicate craftsmanship. Made exclusively from the most tender, unopened tea buds plucked during the fleeting days of early spring, each needle is adorned in a thick coat of fine, silvery down—the hallmark of supreme quality.

Because it undergoes the absolute minimum amount of processing, the tea leaves remain exactly as nature intended. When infused, these down-covered buds yield a brilliant, pale golden liquor that is celebrated for its pristine purity, high antioxidant content, and profoundly refreshing nature.

A Surprising Sensory Symphony: From Sage to Butter

While traditional Silver Needle is known for its classic whispers of honeysuckle, melon, and fresh hay, this specific Panxi harvest unfolds an extraordinarily deep, complex fragrance and texture profile across your session:

  • The First Impression: The aroma opens with a crisp, aromatic burst of fresh sage and a cooling lift of mint.

  • The Evolution: As the buds unfurl, the fragrance deepens into a comforting warmth reminiscent of chocolate and sweet butter.

  • The Mouthfeel: On the palate, this tea breaks away from mere delicacy to offer a remarkably full-bodied, round, and milky texture. The abundance of tea down gives the liquor a uniquely velvety, hairy physical presence that coats the throat in lasting sweetness.

The Spiritual Character: Mild & Neutral

In alignment with classical Chinese tea philosophy, Silver Needle carries a mild and neutral spiritual character. It does not demand attention with loud, aggressive flavors; instead, it invites you into a state of serene stillness. Its energetic quality is clean, cooling, and deeply grounding, serving as a mirror to a calm and focused mind.

Recommended Occasions

  • Special Occasions: This is a tea reserved for milestones, celebratory gatherings, or when you wish to honor an esteemed guest.

  • Elegant Tea Rituals: Perfect for moments of quiet reflection, meditative solo sessions, or formal Gongfu Cha practices.

Technical Brewing & Awakening Guide

To extract the rich, buttery textures and delicate herbal notes of this Panxi treasure, we recommend using a clean porcelain gaiwan or a fine-pored clay vessel like The Sedimentary Stone Teapot (pictured in IMG_7006 Large.jpeg).

  • Tea-to-Water Ratio: 4g of Silver Needle buds per 200 ml teapot.

  • Water Temperature: 85°C – 90°C (185°F – 194°F).

  • The Awakening Ritual: Pour the hot water over the buds and steam it for 20 seconds before taking your first sip. This crucial awakening step allows the dense, downy silver needles to prime, open up, and release their signature milky, full-bodied roundness.

  • Endurance: Incredibly resilient; these pristine buds can be mindfully brewed 6 to 10 times, with each infusion revealing a different layer of its sweet, complex soul.
